Volumizing & Conditioning Shampoo (exclusive)

Formula;
phase A
48% distilled water
1% dl panthenol
4% glycerin
.5% guarcat
phase B
1% fragrance oil
phase C
30% AOS 40
Directions;
begin by combining all the ingredients in phase A and mixing until the guarcat has dissolved
next combine the two ingredients in phase B in a separate beaker and combine the two ingredients in phase C in another beaker
add phase B into phase A and then phase A/B into phase C
check and adjust ph to 4.5-5.5
cover and let your shampoo sit overnight before bottling it up.
ph adjusting; natural ph falls around 6.75 you want a ph between 4.5-5.5 when making hair care products. I added in 7 drops of a 50% diluted solution of citric acid and it got the ph down to 5.45
Benefits/Purpose of each ingredient
glycerin - It acts as a natural humectant, meaning that it can attract and draw moisture to your hair and scalp and hold it there
liquid germall plus - preservative
hydrolyzed quinoa - adds volume to hair. can enhance color retention, provides film forming and moisture retention benefits, protects hair and increases shine for healthier looking hair.
volumizing complex - thickens hair, Increases hair volume and curl retention. may also increase both the flexibility of the hair as well as perceived smoothness.
dl panthenol - it’s a film former that increases shine while hydrating the hair strand to be more elastic, more manageable, and healthier. It can thicken the hair shaft, making hair appear thicker.
guarcat - in adds a conditioning effect to the shampoo and thickens up the shampoo to make it easier to apply to hair.
polysorbate 20 - solubilizes fragrance into shampoo
AOS 40 - anionic surfactant that cleanses the hair and serves as the main lathering agent
cocamidopropyl betaine - an amphoteric surfactant that offers great lather and is a foam booster
Substitutions;
glycerin - 1,3 propanedial or propylene glycol
liquid germall plus - euxyl pe 9010, optiphen plus, or another broad spectrum preservative
hydrolyzed quinoa - a different hydrolyzed protein. Silk protein, wheat protein, oat protein, etc.
volumizing complex - no sub
dl panthenol - no sub, can leave out.
guarcat - can use crothix instead, but the shampoo will no longer be conditioning
polysorbate 20 - polysorbate 80, sunflower solubilizer, or poly suga mulse D9
AOS 40 - a different anionic surfactant of choice. DLS, foaming apple, foaming soy, ammonium lauryl sulfate, plantapon LGC sorb, plantapon 611L UP (doesn't need paired with cocamidropropyl betaine)
cocamidopropyl betaine - lauramidopropyl betaine, disodium cocoamphodiacetate
