Vegan Lip Balm w/ Hyaluronic Acid - Inspired by BRING GREEN Bamboo Hyalu Lip Essence (Blog)



Directions;

  • In a sanitized container combine all the ingredients in phase A and heat until melted. (I used a hot plate, but a water bath works just fine) (How to make water bath: Fill a pan filled with an inch or so of water. Place your pan on your Stove Top on medium heat.)

  • Once melted and phase A is around 72℃, you can remove from heat, add in phase B and mix until everything is fully combined.  

  • Pour into squeeze tubes and let cool to room temperature before caping. If needed, a Plastic Syringe can help with filling your tubes.   


Benefits/Uses of Ingredients; 

 

Petroleum Jelly (Petrolatum) - amazing moisturizing occlusive for lips to keep them hydrated. 


Hydrogenated Polyisobutene - helps moisturize and hydrate lips and helps create a silky lip balm.


BioLatum™ (INCI: Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax) - natural alternative to petroleum jelly. Great for moisturizing and hydrating lips. 


Aloe Vera Extract (INCI: Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract) - hydrates and soothes lips. 


Oleo hyaluronic acid  (INCI: Sodium Hyaluronate, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil) - oil soluble version of hyaluronic acid. Helps plump, hydrate, and moisturize lips.



Substitutes;

These are only suggestions. Further testing needs done if you are using any substitutes. Substituting ingredients may result in the need to change the formulating process or recalculate the formula.



Hydrogenated Polyisobutene - Lanolin,  Polybutene, Polyisobutene 1200, Castor oil, or another liquid oil or ester of choice.


BioLatum™ (INCI: Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax) - Petroleum Jelly (Petrolatum), Lanolin


Aloe Vera Extract (INCI: Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract) - any oil soluble extract of choice.


Oleo hyaluronic acid  (INCI: Sodium Hyaluronate, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil) - no substitute.
