Turmeric Brightening Body Lotion (exclusive)

Formula;
water phase
5% glycerin
65% distilled water
oil phase
10% turmeric oil
2% shea butter
5% BTMS 50
2% cetyl alcohol
cool down phase
5% fision ActiveWhite
3% niacinamide
2% turmeric extract
0.5% liquid germall plus
0.5% vitamin E
Directions;
combine all ingredients in the water phase in a heat safe beaker
combine all ingredients in the oil phase in a heat safe beaker
tare scale and take note of the water phase weight as we will be heating it up and some of the water will evaporate, so that will need replaced once it's done heating
place both phases in a water bath and heat until everything in oil phase has melted and the water phase is around the same temperature.
pour the water phase into the oil phase and blend with a high sheer mixer like an immersion blender.
come back and mix periodically until lotion starts to thicken.
combine all ingredients in the cool down phase except for the vitamin E.
mix until niacinamide has fully dissolved. then you can add in the vitamin E
once your lotion is 100° f or cooler pour in the cool down phase and mix until combined.
check pH and adjust to around 6.
pH adjusting; natural pH was 5.14 I added 5 drops of a 10% sodium hydroxide solution and got the pH to 6.06
Benefits/Purpose of each ingredient
glycerin - humectant that hydrates the skin
turmeric oil - brightens dull skin, fights acne, brightens under eyes, full of antioxidants, anti aging, and can help with hyperpigmentation
shea butter - moisturizer
BTMS 50 - cationic emulsifier that blends water and oil together. adds conditioning benefits and softens the skin. Also helps thicken lotion.
cetyl alcohol - emollient that moisturizes skin, stabilizes emulsion and thickens lotion.
fision Active White - contains proven ingredients to help reduce melanin formation combined with skin-calming Oat Oligopeptides to help even skin tone for a healthier looking complexion
niacinamide - has the ability to visibly improve the appearance of enlarged pores, uneven skin tone, fine lines, dullness, and helps improve the overall appearance of the skin
turmeric extract - may help keep the skin soft and smooth, make the skin glow, and remove blemishes such as spots as well as reduce pigmentation.
liquid germall plus - preservative
vitamin E - reduces UV-induced free radical damage to the skin. It also protects cells against the effects of free radicals which are formed as by-products of the body’s metabolic processes. Also an antioxidant and a nutrient that is best known for maintaining skin health. promotes the growth of new skin and hair. By soothing and preventing dryness, itching, flaking, and burning, it promotes the look of a youthful, radiant complexion as well as healthier and more lustrous strands.
Substitutions;
glycerin - propanedial, sodium PCA, propylene glycol or other humectant
turmeric oil - any oil you would like. jojoba oil, papaya oil, camellia seed oil, but if you are wanting to turmeric benefits use the turmeric infused oil.
shea butter - mango butter
BTMS 50 - emulsifying wax NF, ritamulse SCG, ecomulse, or any other all in one emulsifier
cetyl alcohol - cetearyl alcohol, behenyl alcohol, stearic acid or any other fatty acid or fatty alcohol
fision Active White - alpha arbutin, alpaflor gigawhite, or other skin brightening ingredient, although formula may need altered if you use a different one.
niacinamide - no sub
turmeric extract - licorice root extract
liquid germall plus - any water soluble broad spectrum preservative. Tristate ECO, geogard ECT, euxyl K 903, etc.
vitamin E - no sub, but you can leave out
