Renewing Ceramide Daily Moisturizer

Formula;

phase A

phase B

phase C

Directions;

  • combine all ingredients in phase A and combine all ingredients in phase B in two separate beakers

  • cover and heat both phases using a water bath

  • heat them to 70c/158f and hold for 20 minutes

  • pour phase A into phase B and mix with immersion blender and let cool

  • combine dl panthenol and distilled water in phase C and mix until dl panthenol dissolves

  • mix the cellynkage and citrustem into the dl panthenol mixture

  • once phase A/B cools to under 40c/100f add in all the ingredients from the cool down phase including the vitamin E and mix

  • check ph and then jar up your moisturizer once it returns to room temperature

Note; natural ph was 5.19. The cellynkage and citrustem are ph sensitive so the ph of this product has to be between 5-8


Benefits/Purpose of each ingredient

fss ceramide complex - restores the protective barrier function of the skin and offers enhanced delivery and exchange of skin lipids. Ceramide Complex is especially suitable for dry skin, aging skin and sensitive skin.

aloe vera powder 200x - soothing, adds moisture, helps acne, wrinkles

ritamulse SCG - anionic surfactant emulsifying product. This is an all in one emulsifier that can blend oil and water together to create a lotion/cream. This is also ecocert

cetyl alcohol - is a thickener that brings slip and glide to our products. It gives a creamy feeling to the product, and it’s a great emollient.

rosehip oil - Trans-retinoic acid is a natural form of vitamin A naturally found in rosehip seed oil. vitamin A has been found to help treat acne along with signs of aging.

caprylic capric triglyceride - non-greasy and light weight. It comes in the form of an oily liquid and mainly works as an emollient, dispersing agent and solvent.

coenzyme Q10 powder - vital to production of energy within cells. It is also a very powerful antioxidant or free radical scavenger. can penetrate the cell layers of the skin and may attenuate the depth of wrinkles due to photo aging, as well as epithelial cell turnover.

dl panthenol - has deep penetrating characteristics which provide excellent humectant benefits for restoring and maintaining natural skin moisture.

cellykage - repairs the skin to help hold and lock in moisture. for more in depth detail about this ingredient read my blog on this ingredient. A laboratory test indicated that Saccharide Isomerate (aka cellykage) boosts hyaluronic acid production in the skin by up to 66%.

citrustem - made from orange stem cells and works by organizing the inner structure of the skin for a younger appearance with a softer and more velvety complexion.

vitamin E - reduces UV-induced free radical damage to the skin. It also protects cells against the effects of free radicals which are formed as by-products of the body’s metabolic processes.

Substitutions;

substituting ingredients will change the final feel, viscosity, and overall effect of final product. percentages and formulating procedure may need to change with substitutions.

  • fss ceramide complex - you can use any ceramide ingredient. FSS carries a few different ones and I'm sure other suppliers have some. Just follow the suggested usage rates of their ceramide ingredient.

  • aloe vera powder 200x - aloe vera liquid, aloe vera extract, or leave out

  • ritamulse SCG - any other all in one emulsifier. I have a blog all about emulsifiers if you want to learn about more options.

  • cetyl alcohol - cetearyl alcohol

  • rosehip oil - another plant oil of choice

  • caprylic capric triglyceride - coco caprylate, c12-15 alkyl benzoate, squalane, or any other emollient ester, lipid, or plant oil.

  • coenzyme Q10 powder - they sell it in liquid form too, but no other sub other than that. You can leave out if you want, but it really is a great ingredient I recommend keeping in the recipe.

  • dl panthenol - no sub. You can leave out if you want.

  • cellynkage - 72h moisture

  • citrustem - no sub, but you can leave out

  • vitamin E - no sub

  • liquid germall plus - optiphen plus or another water soluble broad spectrum preservative

  • vitamin E oil - no sub, but you can leave out
