  • 8% glycerin

  • 0.2% xanthan gum soft

phase B

  • 66.8% distilled water

  • 8% 1,3 propanedial

phase C

  • 4% lotionpro 165

  • 0.5% sodium carbomer

  • 5% watermelon seed oil

  • 2% shea butter

  • 2% dimethicone

phase D

  • 0.5% liquid germall plus

  • 2% watermelon extract

  • 1% watermelon fragrance oil or flavor oil

Directions;

  • combine all ingredients in phase A and mix.

  • combine all ingredients in phase B in a separate heat safe container and mix.

  • pour phase A into phase B and mix.

  • combine all ingredients in phase C in a heat safe beaker

  • place both phase A/B and phase C into a water bath and heat until all ingredients in phase C are melted and both phases are around the same temp.

  • pour phase A/B into phase C and blend with an immersion blender

  • let cool to 100° f and add in all ingredients in phase D and mix

  • let sit over night and jar up the next day. Can go into a jar or squeeze tube/bottle

pH adjusting; pH does not need adjusted and should be adjusted. Sodium carbomer needs to be in pH around 6-7.5 so if you try to lower the pH the formula will separate

Benefits/Purpose of each ingredient

glycerin - humectant that hydrates the skin and helps hydrate the xanthan gum and ULMW hyaluronic acid

xanthan gum soft - thickener and gelling agent. also helps stabilize formula.

1,3 propanedial - humectant that hydrates skin

lotionpro 165 - blends oil and water together. is a combination of Glyceryl Stearate and PEG 100 Stearate. Can create light, fluffy and very thin emulsions. Unlike most emulsifiers that can thicken emulsions, lotionpro 165 does not.

sodium carbomer - is a pre-neutralized synthetic polymer that can be used to thicken, suspend and stabilize cosmetic formulations. Requiring very low concentrations, Carbomers are often used to adjust the viscosity of cosmetic preparations. They dry quickly and are not film forming. Sodium Carbomer does not require the alkaline catalyst that all other Carbomers require. Sodium Carbomer is already neutralized, and in the sodium carbomer form.

watermelon seed oil - known to have moisturizing, regenerating and restructuring properties. full of antioxidants and is said to help even skin town.

dimethicone - provides long lasting skin smoothness. increases slip and glide of emulsions and moisturizes the skin.

shea butter - serves as a great moisturizer.

liquid germall plus - preservative

watermelon extract - high in antioxidants, Vitamin A, and Vitamin C, which can help reduce skin inflammation, improve skin pigmentation, and promote healthy collagen production.

Substitutions;

substituting ingredients will change the final feel, viscosity, and overall effect of final product. percentages and formulating procedure may need to change with substitutions. these substitution suggestions are just suggestions and have not been tested to work.

  • glycerin - propylene glycol, propanedial, sodium PCA or other humectant

  • xanthan gum soft - you can try another gum like agar agar gum but I've never tried it and not to sure how well it will work. I have made this without xanthan gum and it turned out fine. So you can leave out. Highly recommend xanthan gum soft over any other xanthan gums although other xanthan gums will work.

  • 1,3 propanedial - propylene glycol, glycerin, sodium PCA or other humectant

  • lotionpro 165 - you can try a different emulsifier like emulsifying wax NF or ritamulse SCG, but the final viscosity and feel of the product will be different.

  • sodium carbomer - any carbomer will work just make sure you adjust the ph to 6-7.5 for carbomer to activate.

  • watermelon seed oil - any other oil you would like

  • shea butter - mango butter or other soft butter

  • dimethicone - cyclomethicone or other silicone or silicone alternative

  • liquid germall plus - euxyl PE 9010 or any other preservative active between 6-7.5

  • watermelon extract - any other extract of choice
