Cucumber Tri-Peptide Eye Serum - Simple + Advanced Formula (Argireline®, LC Peptide™, LCPeptide™ Copper) 9/26 Exclusive

I recently purchased Lotioncrafter Wrinkle Defense Complex™ (INCI: Water (and) Glycerin (and) Butylene Glycol (and) Carbomer (and) Polysorbate 20 (and) Acetyl Hexapeptide-8 (and) Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1 (and) Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7)
I wanted to make an eye serum with this specific peptide complex because it includes two very popular peptides that are often marketed as “botox in a bottle” I looked into this, and no it’s not magic. It is not botox in a bottle. It does not penetrate deep enough into the skin, but you can increase penetration by using humectants and putting the ingredient in a water in oil emulsion.
Lotioncrafter Wrinkle Defense Complex™ Contains both Argireline®, LC Peptide™ 3000 (aka matrixyl 300) Which are both very popular peptides often marketed as (botox in a bottle) it does add some immediate skin benefits, no where near similar to botox! From my research it does not penetrate the skin enough to have any lasting anti wrinkle effect, but still can still increase appearance of skin overtime.
The first formula I want to share is a ‘Simpler’ version of the Tri-Peptide Cucumber Serum with less ingredients. Of course feel free to leave some out, or use a different water soluble peptide complex from your ingredient supplier.

Directions;
In a sanitized container, mix together all the ingredients in phase A until powder looks fully mixed in. May not be dissolved, but should be fully mixed. Set aside.

In another sanitized container, combined the phase B ingredients and mix well.
Slowly pour phase A into phase B while mixing. Cover with plastic wrap and let sit overnight while the Hyaluronic Acid fully hydrates.

The next day, your serum should be a smooth clear gel. Check and adjust pH to around 6.5 - 7 if using as an under eye serum. If using all over face, keep ph between 5 - 5.5.
Pour into desired bottles. I used these 10 ml glass dropper bottles.

pH note: Lotioncrafter Wrinkle Defense Complex™needs to be in a pH between 5 - 7. So keep pH within that area. Since I am using this as an under eye serum, I want the pH closer to 7. But I do not want it too close to 7, just in case the pH drifts, I do not want it to go above 7. So I kept mine around 6.5 - 6.7
Benefits/Uses of Ingredients;
Distilled Water - diluent
SLMW Hyaluronic Acid - humectant that hydrates the skin. SLMW HA penetrates the skin deeper than other HA.
HMW Hyaluronic Acid - Humectant that hydrates the skin. Does not penetrate the skin as much as SLMW HA, but it thickens serums beautifully.
Glycerin - humectant to hydrate the skin.
Preservative PE (INCI; Phenoxyethanol & Ethyhexylglycerin) - Preservative
Cucumber Essence Water - adds a light scent of cucumber.
Cucumber Extract (Glycerite) ORG (INCI: INCI: Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Glycerin, Aqua) - adds to the cucumber story.
Lotioncrafter Wrinkle Defense Complex™ (INCI: Water (and) Glycerin (and) Butylene Glycol (and) Carbomer (and) Polysorbate 20 (and) Acetyl Hexapeptide-8 (and) Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1 (and) Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7) - Contains both Argireline®, LC Peptide™ 3000 (aka matrixyl 300) Which are both very popular peptides often marketed as (botox in a bottle) it does add some immediate skin benefits, no where near similar to botox! From my research it does not penetrate the skin enough to have any lasting anti wrinkle effect, but still can still increase appearance of skin overtime.
Substitutes;
These are only suggestions. Further testing needs done if you are using any substitutes. Substituting ingredients may result in the need to change the formulating process or recalculate the formula.
Distilled Water - Hydrosol, Floral Water, Essence Water, or Aloe Vera Liquid
HMW Hyaluronic Acid - Xanthan Gum , Solagum AX, or other gelling agent of choice. Check out my video all about thickening serums to learn more about gelling agent options.
Preservative PE (INCI; Phenoxyethanol & Ethyhexylglycerin) - Geogard 221 / Benzylalcohol-DH (some suppliers say this is eye area safe and others do not. Check with your supplier.)
Cucumber Essence Water - distilled water or any other essence or hydrosol of choice.
Cucumber Extract (Glycerite) ORG (INCI: INCI: Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Glycerin, Aqua) - any water soluble botanical extract of choice.
Lotioncrafter Wrinkle Defense Complex™ (INCI: Water (and) Glycerin (and) Butylene Glycol (and) Carbomer (and) Polysorbate 20 (and) Acetyl Hexapeptide-8 (and) Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1 (and) Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7) - you can use any water soluble peptide solution you can find from your ingredient supplier.

This next serum formula is by far, over the top and has a lot of expensive ingredients.
LCPeptide™ Copper (INCI: Water, Glycerin, Propanediol, Copper Tripeptide-1, Ethylhexylglycerin, Benzoic Acid) - is a naturally occurring peptide found in the body and is said to boost collagen, skin repair and elasticity.
REGener-AGE™ (INCI: Hydrolyzed Rice Bran Protein, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Protein, Oxido Reductases) - claims to help with under eye bags and dark circles. It not longer seems to be available from the supplier.

Directions;
In a heat safe sanitized container, combine ingredients in phase A and mix.
In another heat safe sanitized container, combine all ingredients in phase B. The Sepimax Zen will not dissolve. Sepimax Zen can be added to the water phase instead if you choose.

Place both phases in a water bath or place on a hot plate. (To make a water bath: Fill a pan with about an inch of water and place it over your stove top on medium heat and place your beakers in to heat) If using a Hot Plate, be sure to monitor the temperature closely so you do not burn your oils. If you keep your water phase on the heat for too long, some of your water will evaporate, so keep that in mind as well.

Once both phases are heated to around the same temperature around 70°C / 158°F pour phase A into phase B and mix. If formulating a batch at 300 grams or over, use an immersion blender. Otherwise you should be able to hand mix everything to combine everything.
Let Cool to around 40°C before adding in phase C.
Start phase C by mixing together the Glycerin, SLMW Hyaluronic Acid, & Phenoxyethanol & Ethyhexylglycerin first.

Once your serum has cooled to 40°C you can pour in your Glycerin, SLMW Hyaluronic Acid, & Phenoxyethanol & Ethyhexylglycerin slurry. Then add in the rest of the phase C ingredients and mic well. Cover with plastic wrap and let sit overnight.

The next day your product may look like it has clumps. Once you mix it, your serum should be smooth.
Check and adjust pH between 5 - 7. If you plan to use it as an Eye serum keep around 6.5 - 6.8 (don’t put right at 7 or too close as the pH may drift and if the pH goes about & the Peptides will no longer be active. If you plan to use all over keep pH between 5 - 5.5
Pour into desired bottles. I used these 10 ml glass dropper bottles.
