Coenzyme Q10 Cream (exclusive)

I have been obsessing over this moisturizer lately. This is the 3rd time I've made it and I'm excited to share it with you all.


Formula;

water phase

oil phase

cool down phase

Directions;

  • begin weighing everything out in the water phase and weigh everything out in the oil phase in separate beakers.

  • heat both phases using a water bath. heat to 158 degrees fahrenheit (70°c) and hold for 20 minutes

  • while those phases are heating weight out the ingredients in the cool down phase, starting with the euxyl pe 9010 and glycerin. Mix the two together then everything else can be added in any order. Make sure you let the dl panthenol dissolve.

  • once the water and oil phase are ready, pour the water phase into the oil phase and mix with a high sheer mixer.

  • once cooled you can add in the cool down ingredients.

  • the product will fully thicken in about 24 hours.

PH adjusting; This cream has a natural ph of about 5.3 so you don't have to worry about adjusting the ph.


Benefits/Purpose of each ingredient

allantoin - has moisturizing, soothing, anti-irritating properties and stimulates healthy, normal tissue formation.

coenzyme Q10 powder - vital to production of energy within cells. It is also a very powerful antioxidant or free radical scavenger. can penetrate the cell layers of the skin and may attenuate the depth of wrinkles due to photo aging, as well as epithelial cell turnover.

montanov 68MB - (primary emulsifier) is a liquid crystal emulsifier that creates a lamellar or bilayered structure that mimics the lipid bilayers in our stratum corneum, which may help actives or lipids from our lotions penetrate our skin easier.

cetyl alcohol - (co emulsifier) is a thickener that brings slip and glide to our products. It gives a creamy feeling to the product, and it’s a great emollient.

oliwax LC - designed to stabilize oil-in-water emulsions and to improve the texture of emulsions. provides the final product with sebum-control. provides skin-hydration and may influence positively the delivery of active ingredients to the skin.

rosehip seed oil - Trans-retinoic acid is a natural form of vitamin A naturally found in rosehip seed oil. vitamin A has been found to help treat acne along with signs of aging. Rosehip oil is fast absorbing leaving little to no residue

glycerin - humectant and solubilizes euxyl PE 9010

euxyl PE 9010 - preservative

dl panthenol - provides excellent humectant benefits for restoring and maintaining natural skin moisture.

cellynkage - repairs the skin to help hold and lock in moisture. for more in depth detail about this ingredient read my blog on this ingredient.

regu-scence - combats two major signs of skin aging by giving the skin a firmer, thicker appearance. Provides skin aging prevention for 25+ and Rejuvenating intense care for 40+

Substitutions;

  • allantoin - no sub, but you can just leave it out

  • coenzyme Q10 - no sub

  • oliwax - use a different stabilizer. you could add xanthan gum in the water phase.

  • montanov 68MB - emulsifying wax NF, ritamulse SCG, Olivem 1,000

  • cetyl alcohol - cetearyl alcohol, behenyl alcohol, stearic acid or another fatty alcohol

  • glycerin - propanedial 1,3

  • dl panthenol - no substitutes, but you could leave out and use a different moisturizing ingredient like hydrolyzed proteins.

  • euxyl pe 9010 - optiphen plus, liquid germall plus, leucidal sf complete, etc. any water soluble broad spectrum preservative that works in this formula

  • cellynkage - 72h Moisture

  • regu-scence - no sub. you could leave it out or replace with an extract of choice.
