Biotin Growth Retention Shampoo (exclusive)

All ingredients in this formula are naturally derived or Ecocert approved except for the preservative, liquid germall plus and PEG-150 Distearate

Formula;

phase A

• 20% AOS 40 INCI; Sodium C14-C16 Olefin Sulfonate

• 10% cocamidopropyl betaine

• 1% glyceryl oleate

• 0.8% PEG-150 Distearate

phase B

• 57.3% distilled water

• 3% glycerin

• 0.5% liquid germall plus

phase C

• 2% FSS biotin liposome

• 2% FSS Caffeine Liposome PF

• 3% FSS Hair and Scalp Complex

Directions;

• combine all ingredients in phase A and mix

• place in a water bath and heat until PEG-150 Distearate melts

• once melted add in all the ingredients in phase B (make sure temperature is below 122°F (50°C) before adding in the liquid germall plus)

• mix until phase A dissolves. Phase A will take a whilte to fully dissolve. I let mine sit over night, but with repeated mixing you can probably get it to dissolve in a couple hours depending on your batch size.

• once phase A and B are fully blended add in phase C.

• product won't thicken until ph is lowered. The FSS hair and scalp complex has a ph of 2.6 – 3.6 and will dramatically lower the ph of your formula. So you will need to raise the ph to 4.0 - 4.5. You can leave the ingredient out if you don't want to worry about raising the ph, but you may need to lower the ph to 4.0 - 5.5

Benefits/Purpose of each ingredient

AOS 40 - anionic liquid surfactant that offers wonderful foaming and mildness. Is a perfect alternative to sulfates without having to sacrifice lather. (ph: 7 - 8.5)

Cocamidopropyl betaine - liquid amphoteric surfactant that provides excellent wetting, and gives good lather and foam. (ph: 5 - 6)

glyceryl oleate - is a re-fatting agent and can be found in our hair lipids and skin lipids. It can help improve surfactant systems by subsiding the drying effect that can sometimes occur. Makes surfactant systems more soft, conditioning luxurious, and gentle.

PEG-150 Distearate - thickener for surfactant-containing products

glycerin - humectant that hydrates the hair and scalp

liquid germall plus - preservative

FSS biotin liposome - aka vitamin B7 is said to help stimulate hair growth

FSS Caffeine Liposome PF - caffeine is said to help stimulate hair growth.

FSS Hair and Scalp Complex - addresses hair and scalp aging at the cellular level; improves follicle health; offers anti-inflammatory / antioxidant properties

Substitutions;

substituting ingredients will change the final feel, viscosity, and overall effect of final product. percentages and formulating procedure may need to change with substitutions.

• glycerin - propanedial, propylene glycol or other humectant

• AOS 40 - any other liquid anionic surfactant. E.g. DLS, foaming apple, foaming soy, ammonium lauryl sulfate, plantapon LGC sorb, plantapon 611L UP

• cocamidopropyl betaine - any other liquid amphoteric surfactant. E.g. lauramidopropyl betaine, disodium cocoamphodiacetate

• glyceryl oleate - this is the only refatting agent I've used, so you can try a different one, but I'm not sure how it will turn out in comparison. E.g FSS Sucrose Cocoate, TEGOSOFT® GC, SurfPro CC-6

• PEG-150 Distearate - crothix, but add in at the end of formula. I have examples using this in other recipes on patreon.

• liquid germall plus - any other water soluble preservative like euxyl k 903, optiphen plus, euxyl PE 9010, geogard ECT, tristate eco, etc.

• FSS biotin liposome - no sub

• FSS Caffeine Liposome PF - if you can find some other kind of caffeine based ingredient like caffeine extract that would work

• FSS Hair and Scalp Complex - no sub, but you can leave out
