  • when you add in the DL panthenol make sure you mix it in until it dissolves.

  • once everything is mixed and combined pour into mold of choice and let sit over night.

  • the next day you can remove the conditioner bars from the mold.

  • they will be pretty soft the first day, but after a couple days they will get much harder. so it's best to let them sit a couple days before using them.

pH adjusting; no pH adjusting needed. This is an anhydrous product with a small about of water in the inner phase so this product doesn't have a pH.

Benefits/Purpose of each ingredient

BTMS 50 - cationic surfactant that helps add slip and glide to hair. Helps soften, smooth, detangle, and condition the hair. Also acts as a hardener for bar.

cetyl alcohol - helps harden the bar and is an emollient that helps moisturize the hair and leave it softer and silkier.

cupuacu butter - helps soften and moisturize hair

murumuru butter - moisturizes and can help seal the cuticle to make hair softer and smoother.

coconut oil - helps tame frizz and helps with breakage and moisturizes the hair.

glycerin - humectant that hydrates the hair

plant keratin - a plant alternative to animal keratin. It increases hair strength, enhances elasticity, helps protect hair from harsh salon processes, makes hair look more healthy and shiny, and improves the comb-ability of hair.

DL panthenol - aka vitamin B5. it’s a film former that increases shine while hydrating the hair strand to be more elastic, more manageable, and healthier. It can thicken the hair shaft, making hair appear thicker.

banana extract (oil soluble) - known to be rich in potassium and vitamin A

liquid germall plus - preservative

Substitutions;

substituting ingredients will change the final feel, viscosity, and overall effect of final product. percentages and formulating procedure may need to change with substitutions. these substitution suggestions are just suggestions and have not been tested to work.

cetyl alcohol - cetearyl alcohol, behenyl alcohol, or other fatty alcohol or fatty acid. I wouldn't replace all of this with stearic acid. Will probably add too much drag.

cupuacu butter - any butter of choice. This butter is a bit harder than shea butter, but a softer or harder butter would work fine.

murumuru butter - this butter is about as hard as cocoa butter. so cocoa butter would be a good alternative, but any butter, softer or harder would work fine.

coconut oil - any oil of choice. Liquid or semi sold

glycerin - propanedial or propylene glycol

plant keratin - any keratin should work. I've seen different versions sold on other sites. You could also use an extract instead or replace with oil.

DL panthenol - no sub, but you can leave out. Use more oil instead.

banana extract (oil soluble) - any extract of choice. Oil soluble or water soluble.

liquid germall plus - any water or oil soluble preservative should work. I wasn't really sure which to use, but I think either should work. Since this product is anhydrous, has only a small inner water phase, and is a solid you don't have to worry about the product growing mold yeast and bacteria as much.
