Pumpkin Puree Exfoliating Enzyme Mask

Formula;

phase A

  • 15% glycerin

  • 2% xanthan gum soft

phase B

  • 20% pumpkin puree

  • 49.4% distilled water

  • 5% willow bark extract

  • 2% papaya enzyme

  • 2% licorice root extract

  • 1.6% tristate ECO

  • 2% DL panthenol

  • 1% bamboo stem powder


Directions;

  • Combine both ingredients in phase A and mix. Set beaker to the side

  • Grab another beaker and combine all ingredients in phase B and mix until DL panthenol dissolves.

  • Pour phase B into phase A. Mix until thickened

  • check & adjust pH to 4.5 - 5.5

pH adjusting; natural pH was 7.83

I added 10 drops of a solution of 50% citric acid and 50% distilled water. Got the pH to 4.7


Benefits/Purpose of each ingredient

glycerin - humectant that hydrates the skin

xanthan gum soft - thickener and gelling agent

pumpkin puree - natural enzymes that eliminate dead skin cells to smooth the skins surface. Ideal for natural non-mechanical exfoliation. Has a high content of natural vitamin A, beta carotene and vitamin C

willow bark extract - exfoliates skin, non irritating, anti-microbial.

papaya enzyme - soothes skin, exfoliating.

licorice root extract - brightens skin, soothes skin, said to help soothe eczema

tristate ECO - Ecocert approved prervative

DL panthenol - improves skins hydration elasticity and appearance. hydrates and moisturizes skin. soothes skin. prevents trans epidermal water loss.

bamboo stem powder - fine powder exfoliant


Substitutions;

substituting ingredients will change the final feel, viscosity, and overall effect of final product. percentages and formulating procedure may need to change with substitutions. these substitution suggestions are just suggestions and have not been tested to work.

  • glycerin - propanedial or propylene glycol

  • xanthan gum soft - sclerotium gum

  • pumpkin puree - no sub

  • willow bark extract - fruit acid complex

  • papaya enzyme - fruit acid complex or use more willow mark extract

  • licorice root extract - Bearberry Extract, lemon extract

  • tristate ECO - any water soluble preservative act in a pH between 4.5 - 5.5

  • DL panthenol - no sub. could add in an extra humectant.

  • bamboo stem powder - jojoba castor beads or jojoba pearls
