Exfoliating Body Wash w/ SALICYLIC ACID (exclusive)

Formula;

phase A

phase B

  • 4% pf buffer solution

  • 44.5% distilled water

phase C

Directions;

  • combine the propanedial and salicylic acid and mix until salicylic acid dissolves then add in the tego solve 61 and mix

  • in a separate beaker mix together the distilled water and buffer solution in phase B

  • place both phase A & B in a water bath and heat until phase A goes clear

  • while mixing add a little bit of phase A into phase B at a time until phase A is fully incorporated into phase B

  • once both phase A & B are mixed together let cool to room temperature

  • combine all ingredients in phase C except for the crothix in a separate container and mix

  • once phase A/B cools add into phase C and mix until combine.

  • pour crothix in and mix until combined

  • check ph, adjust to 3.5-4.5 if needed. (try to keep around 4.0)

  • let body wash sit until the next day, then bottle up in desired container.

directions;

  • weigh out the distilled water in a glass container

  • weigh out the sodium hydroxide in another container

  • pour the sodium hydroxide into the water DO NOT DO IT THE OTHER WAY AROUND

  • mix

  • you will notice it will turn foggy and the water will heat up and maybe even sizzle, this is normal. Let it sit until water runs clear and returns to room temperature

important note; wear protective clothing like long sleeves, goggles, and gloves when working with sodium hydroxide. Also work in a well ventilated room or outside.


Benefits/Purpose of each ingredient

salicylic acid - BHA. Helps treat acne by exfoliating the skin. Stronger than AHA's

1,3 propanedial - humectant that hydrates skin and helps dissolve salicylic acid

tego solve 61 - solubilizer. Helps keep salicylic acid from recrystallizing in formula

ph buffer solution - raises ph

AOS 40 - anionic surfactant that does a great job at cleansing the skin without being harsh on the skin and produces great lather.

cocamidopropyl betaine - liquid amphoteric surfactant that provides excellent wetting, and gives good lather and foam. does a great job at increasing the quality of the lather when combined with AOS 40

chamomile extract - soothes skin

liquid germall plus - preservative

crothix - thickener


Substitutions;

substituting ingredients will change the final feel, viscosity, and overall effect of final product. percentages and formulating procedure may need to change with substitutions.
