E.L.F Ride or Die Lip Balm Dupe - Vegan Tinted Lip Balm Formula (Exclusive)

 Directions; 

  1. Combine all ingredients in phase A and melt using a water bath or hot plate. (How to make a water bath: fill a pan with an inch or so of water and place on your Stove Top over medium heat.)

  2. Combine all ingredients in phase B and mix together. (We mix the liquid ingredients with the mica first so it does not clump when we add into phase A.) 

  3. Once phase A is completely melted, remove from heat and let cool. 

  4. Before your lip balm starts to harder (around 120°F/48°C) add in the phase B and mix well.

  5. Immediately pour into squeeze tubes.

  6. Let cool to room temperature before placing on the caps.

Benefits/Uses of Ingredients;


Bis-Diglyceryl Polyacyladipate-2  - vegan alternative to Lanolin. This is a soft waxy paste that is an emollient and adds moisture and cushion to lips. 


BioLatum™ (INCI: Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax) - natural alternative to petroleum jelly. Great for moisturizing and hydrating lips.  


Microcrystalline Wax Pastilles - a refined petroleum byproduct. This is a very moisturizing oil biding wax. Commonly used in lip products like lip sticks and balms and claims to help avoid sweating.


Castor Oil  - great heavy moisturizing emollient commonly used in lip products. Adds great shine. (The oil is also used to ‘wet’ mica before adding it into the formula.


Clear Jojoba Oil - said to be similar to humans sebum and is a commonly used emollient in cosmetics. It has a long shelf life for being a natural oil and is a great choice for lip balms. (The oil is also used to ‘wet’ mica before adding it into the formula)


Vitamin E Acetate - packed with antioxidants and helps reduce oxidation.


Flavor Oil (Mixed Berry Flavor Oil) - adds a scent to lip product. 


Mica Blend of Choice - adds color to lips. (Make sure it is lip safe by checking the description)



Substitutes;

These are only suggestions. Further testing needs done if you are using any substitutes. Substituting ingredients may result in the need to change the formulating process or recalculate the formula.








Flavor Oil (Mixed Berry Flavor Oil) - any lip safe flavor oil of choice. 


Mica Blend of Choice - any lip safe oil soluble pigment of choice.
