All ingredients in this formula are naturally derived or Ecocert approved except for the preservative, liquid germall plus.
Formula;
phase A
76.5% distilled water
5% glycerin
phase B
5% castor oil
phase C
Directions;
combine all ingredients in phase A in one beaker and combine all ingredients in phase B in a separate beaker
tare your scale and weigh phase A. including the weight of the beaker. write down how much it weighs.
cover and place both phase A and B in a water bath.
Heat until everything is melted in phase B.
Once both phases are around the same temperature place phase A back on your scale and replace any water that evaporated.
pour phase A into phase B. (I always recommend pouring your water phase into your oil phase to prevent oil/emulsifier from hardening on the sides of your beaker. Your formula probably won't fail if you do it the other way around, it just makes for easier clean up and it's a good habit to start since most emulsifiers perform best this way and it makes cleaning your beakers easier.)
once phase A and B are combined mix with an immersion blender.
come back periodically and mix as your emulsion cools. Once it starts to thicken don't mix anymore.
once your emulsion is 100°f or under add in your cool down ingredients.
the hair and scalp complex will cause the ph of your product to drop to around 3. So you will need to raise the ph using a ph buffer. If you don't want to worry about raising the ph leave the hair and scalp complex out of your formula. Without it you will probably get a ph around 4.0-5.5 if not then you will want to lower the ph to around 4.0 - 5.5
