Formula;
heated phase
20% castor oil
19.5% sunflower oil
15% shea butter
10% sunflower wax
cool down phase
Directions;
combine all ingredients in phase A and melt using a water bath. may need to mix a bit as it melts.
once melted immediately add in the cool down phase ingredients and mix
pour into lip balm container and let harden. Should solidify in less than an hour.
Benefits/Purpose of each ingredient
caprylic capric triglyceride - helps moisturize dry chapped lips
castor oil - moisturizes and feel heavier than most oils
sunflower oil - helps moisturize dry chapped lips
shea butter - helps moisturize dry chapped lips
sunflower wax - hardens lip balm and helps lock in moisture.
lauryl laurate - emollient slip agent and skin-penetrating agent
lipeptide - is an anti aging agent containing tripeptide-1 and hyaluronic acid. It can help minimize lines around lips and is said to increase lip volume by 30%
vitamin E - antioxidants that keeps product fresh and can help soothe chapped lips
Substitutions;
substituting ingredients will change the final feel, viscosity, and overall effect of final product. percentages and formulating procedure may need to change with substitutions.
caprylic capric triglyceride - any other oil of choice
castor oil - any other oil of choice
sunflower oil - any other oil of choice
shea butter - any other butter (may change hardness)
sunflower wax - bees wax, candelilla wax, carnauba wax or any other wax just make sure you do experiments first as ever wax has a different hardness.
lauryl laurate - no sub, but can leave out. Replace with shea butter
lipeptide - Hilurlip
vitamin E - no sub but can leave out
