you will noticed white chunks. This is normal. It can take up to 24 hours for the hyaluronic acid to fully dissolve in the formula. The small the batch you make, the faster the hyaluronic acid will dissolve. Come back and mix periodically to help the hyaluronic acid dissolve.
once the hyaluronic acid is fully dissolved check and balance ph between 4 - 5
Natural PH of product - 4.18 No ph adjustments needed. Be sure to check the ph of your product. PH can be different depending on where you buy your ingredients and if you make any adjustments to the recipe.
Benefits/Purpose of each ingredient
hyaluronic acid - helps plump, hydrate, and make skin more youthful and healthy. HA is the natural gel between skin cells that serves as a water reservoir for the cells. As we age, skin loses hyaluronic acid and the ability to hold sufficient water in this reservoir. Feeding new hyaluronic acid to skin may help hydrate skin's inter-cellular reservoir, raising skin's moisture level, and smoothing down age lines.
glycerin - humectant that hydrates skin
3-glyceryl ascorbate - is a vitamin C derivative that is more stable than powder-derived vitamin C alternatives. Vitamin C is an antioxidant that helps protect the skin from damaging free radicals. Brightens skin and improves skin regeneration. Conditions and moisturizes the skin. Boosts collagen product and improves skins elasticity.
green tea extract - intended to act as a powerful antioxidant to protect the skin from environmental free radical damage, while also protecting the skin from UV radiation. may minimize the appearance of skin damage by helping to tone the epidermis and improve elasticity to decrease the appearance of sagging skin and fine lines.
watermelon extract - rich in potassium, Vitamins A, C, and B, amino acids, and lycopene, a powerful antioxidant that helps minimize the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, and age spots.
liquid germall plus - preservative
Substitutions;
substituting ingredients will change the final feel, viscosity, and overall effect of final product. percentages and formulating procedure may need to change with substitutions.
hyaluronic acid - you could use sepimax zen or xanthan gum soft or any other gelling agent you like, but they don't have the same anti aging and moisturizing benefits as HA.
glycerin - 1,3 propanedial, sodium pca, sodium lactate liquid, propylene glycol
3-glyceryl ascorbate - Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate (MAP) I've never used this, but it seems to be similar. It does need to be in a formula with a ph between 6-7 though.
green tea extract - any other extract of choice or replace with any other water soluble ingredient.
watermelon extract - any other extract of choice or replace with any other water soluble ingredient.
liquid germall plus - any other water soluble broad spectrum preservative. Euxyl PE 9010, optiphen plus, optiphen.
