Formula;
water phase
14.2% distilled water - (substitute w/ hydrosol or aloe vera liquid)
20% aloe vera liquid - (substitute w/ hydrosol or distilled water)
15% chamomile hydrosol - (substitute w/ cucumber hydrosol)
5% glycerin - (substitute w/ 1,3 propanedial )
1% allantoin
sepimax zen phase
2% sepimax zen
surfactant phase
20% foaming apple - (substitute w/ cocamidopropyl betaine, foaming soy, or another foaming surfactant of choice)
10% coco glucoside - (substitute w/ decyl glucoside)
10% almond oil - (substitute w/ a different carrier oil of choice)
cool down phase
.5% liquid germall plus - (substitute w/ another water soluble broad spectrum preservative)
2% cucumber extract - (substitute w/ chamomile extract of choice)
.3% eucalyptus essential oil - (substitute w/ another essential oil or fragrance oil)
Directions;
combine ingredients from water phase in a beaker. you may have to heat using a water bath in order to get the allantoin to dissolve.
once all ingredients in water phase are combined and allantoin is dissolved sprinkle the sepimax zen on top of your water formulation (do not mix)
cover your formulation and let sit for at least 8 hours (I let mine sit over night)
after 8 hours you will notice the water formulation has thickened up a lot and the formulation with be very gunky and clumpy. mix up as much as possible
take a separate beaker and combine your surfactant phase. mix ingredients together till well combine
now slowly pour your surfactant phase into your water phase.
carefully mix everything together
now it's time to add in your cool down ingredients and mix them in until they are well combine.
there may still be clumps in your formulation. if so, let your formulation sit for a few more hours (I let mine sit over night)
once you come back everything should be a nice gelled consistency and there should be no clumps.
pour your body gel into a bottle of your choice and you are done :)
Benefits of each ingredient
aloe vera liquid - soothing, hydrating, and calming to the skin.
chamomile hydrosol - it is one of the most gentle anti-inflammatory's of all the hydrosols. Well known for its healing, soothing, effect on skin.
allantoin - has moisturizing, soothing, anti-irritating properties and stimulates healthy, normal tissue formation
glycerin - hydrates and locks in moisture
sepimax zen - thickener and it produces products with an elegant skin feel and velvety touch. can also help emulsify oils
foaming apple - is an anionic surfactant derived from amino acids obtained from apple juice. will help gently cleanse the skin.
coco glucoside- acts as our emulsifier and is a natural, non-ionic, surfactant very similar to decly glucoside. it's ultra mild, and one of the most gentle of the cleansing agents, making it ideal for all foaming and cleansing products, especially those designed for fragile or sensitive skin.
cucumber extract - soothes skin, moisturizing, has vitamin C, vitamin K, and potassium, vitamin A, vitamin B6, thiamin, folate, pantothenic acid, magnesium, phosphorus, copper, and manganese.
