Pumpkin Spice Foaming Hand Soap
No need to run to bath and body works, we can make our own pumpkin spice products in the comfort of our own home :) Today I'm sharing my recipe to a pumpkin spice foaming hand soap.
Formula;
water phase
73.9% distilled water - (substitute w/ a hydrosol or aloe vera liquid)
10% glycerin - (substitute w/ 1,3 propanedial)
1.5% optiphen plus - (substitute w/ .5% liquid germall plus, 1.5% optiphen, 2% geogard/neodefend)
oil phase
5% plantapon LGC sorb - (substitute w/ 5% foaming apple, 5% cocamidopropyl betaine, 5% AOS 40 may need to lower ph, 5% disodium laureth sulfosuccinate, ect.)
5% coco glucoside - (substitute w/ 5% decyl glucoside)
2.5% avocado oil - (substitute w/ a different carrier oil)
.1% cinnamon essential oil - (substitute w/ cinnamon fragrance oil)
note: can substitute both the plantapon LGC sorb and coco glucoside with either rich and balanced surfactant blend or rich and balanced apple surfactant blend
ps. I don't like the smell of rich and balanced surfactant blend haven't tried rich and balanced apple surfactant blend, but I heard it's better.
Directions;
combine ingredients in the oil phase and mix until well combine
add in the water phase ingredients and mix
pour into a foaming pump bottle and you are done!
Benefits of each ingredient
glycerin - hydrates and locks in moisture
optiphen plus - preserves product
plantapon LGC sorb - anionic, mild, green, biodegradable surfactant blend of sodium lauryl glucose carboxylate and lauryl glucoside. has a ph of 5.5 - 6.5
coco glucoside - add cleansing and foaming properties. Is also a non ionic surfactant so it helps solubilize the oils in the water. ph of 11.5 - 12.5
avocado oil - moisturizes the skin
pumpkin scented extract - is packed with vitamins and minerals and soothes and moisturizes the skin. It can also act as an accelerator, helping the skin to absorb nutrients quickly. & smells like pumpkin!
cinnamon essential oil - gives the spice scent in pumpkin spice to the hand soap
Exact formula I used; (makes 330 grams, 10 ounces)
water phase
distilled water - 243.9 grams
glycerin - 33 grams
optiphen plus - 4.95 grams
oil phase
plantapon LGC sorb - 16.5 grams
coco glucoside - 16.5 grams
avocado oil - 8.25 grams
pumpkin scented extract - 6.6 grams
cinnamon essential oil - .33 grams
