This stuff is literally the best hand soap I've ever used. It leaves my skin feeling so hydrated and soft. I highly recommend trying it out.
Formula;
5% coco glucoside
1% fragrance (I used lime essential oil and spearmint essential oil)
5% glycerin
3% sodium PCA
3% honeyquat
25% sodium AOS-40 C14-16 (also known as AOS 40)
3% crothix
49.5% distilled water
Directions;
weigh out all the ingredients in order and mix until well combine. Balance ph to around 5.5 and bottle up your hand soap
PH adjusting; aos 40 has a ph of 7-8.5 and coco glucoside has a ph of 11.5-12.5 so be sure to lower the ph to around 5.5 for best results.
Benefits/Purpose of each ingredient
coco glucoside - is a nonionic surfactant that helps solubilize the essential oil in the formulation. It also serves a very mild and gently cleansing agent.
lime & spearmint essential oil - fragrance
glycerin - humectant (hydrates the skin)
sodium lactate liquid - humectant (hydrates the skin)
sodium PCA - humectant (hydrates the skin)
honeyquat - cationic surfactant that conditions the skin (typically cationic and anionic surfactants can't be paired together, but this cationic ingredients is actually formulated to work with anionic surfactants
liquid germall plus - preservative
sodium AOS-40 C14-16 (also known as AOS 40) - anionic surfactant that serves as the cleansing agent and bubbling agent
crothix - thickener
Substitutions;
coco glucoside - Decyl Glucoside. You could even use polysorbate 20 or polysorbate 80 to solubilize the fragrance although they do not have cleansing properties like the decyl and coco glucoside.
glycerin, sodium lactate liquid, and sodium PCA - they call can be replaced with either 1,3 propanedial, propylene glycol or any other humectant.
honeyquat - poly suga quat L-1010P
liquid germall plus - euxyl pe 9010, optiphen plus, leucidal sf complete, etc. any water soluble broad spectrum preservative that works in this formula
sodium AOS-40 C14-16 - a different cleansing surfactant. This may change the strength and feel of lather. Examples; Disodium laureth sulfosuccinate, foaming apple, foaming soy, plantapon 611L UP, plantapon LGC Sorb, Ammonium Lauryl Sufate, etc.
crothix - you could thicken with xanthan gum, siligel, or any other thickener you prefer.
