20% aloe vera liquid - (substitute w/ distilled water or hydrosol)

2% hydrolyzed oat protein - (substitute w/ wheat protein, rice protein, etc.)
1.5% optiphen - (substitute w/ .5% liquid germall plus, 4% leucidal sf complete, 1.5% optiphen plus)
surfactant phase
10% plantapon LGC sorb - (substitute w/ 10% foaming apple, 10% cocamidopropyl betaine, 10% sodium C-14 C-16 alpha olefin sulfonate (also known as AOS 40, or any other foaming surfactant of choice.)
5% coco glucoside - (substitute w/ decyl glucoside)
15% meadowfoam seed oil - (substitute w/ another carrier oil of choice)
Directions;
weigh out glycerin and add in xanthan gum. mix together until xanthan gum dissolves in glycerin
in a separate beaker weigh out distilled water followed by dl panthenol, mix until dl panthenol dissolves. Then add in the rest of the ingredients in the water phase and mix.
now pour the water phase into the glycerin and xanthan gum mixture and mix until the formulation gels.
in another beaker combine the ingredients in the surfactant phase and mix
pour the surfactant phase into your formulation and mix gently.
you can balance the ph if needed.
then pour your face wash in a bottle of choice.
note: instead of xanthan gum you could use siligel to thicken the face wash, but you will have to heat your water phase (do not include heat sensitive ingredients like optiphen and dl panthenol) once heated add in the siligel and mix with immersion blender.
Or you could use crothix to thicken the face wash. Combine your water phase ingredients and combine your surfactant phase ingredients in two separate beakers. Mix them together, then add in your crothix and mix till thickened.
Benefits and purpose of each ingredient;
glycerin - hydrates and locks in moisture
xanthan gum - gels formulation and moisturizes the skin
aloe vera liquid - soothing, hydrating, and calming to the skin. can even help with acne
dl panthenol - has deep penetrating characteristics which provide excellent humectant benefits for restoring and maintaining natural skin moisture.
hydrolyzed oat protein - imparts a soft, cushiony feel on the skin, drying to a velvety smoothness on the skin.
meadowfoam seed oil - like jojoba oil it is slightly waxy and closely resembles human sebum. when used in skin care, it naturally helps your skin to effectively form a barrier to lock in moisture and deliver nutrients deep into your epidermis
plantapon LGC sorb - anionic, mild, green, biodegradable surfactant blend of sodium lauryl glucose carboxylate and lauryl glucoside. has a ph of 5.5 - 6.5
coco glucoside - acts as our emulsifier and is a natural, non-ionic, surfactant very similar to decly glucoside. it's ultra mild, and one of the most gentle of the cleansing agents, making it ideal for all foaming and cleansing products, especially those designed for fragile or sensitive skin.
pumpkin scented extract - is packed with vitamins and minerals and soothes and moisturizes the skin. It can also act as an accelerator, helping the skin to absorb nutrients quickly. & smells like pumpkin!
optiphen- helps preserve product
