How to Make Oil - Milk Cleanser

Formula;

phase A

  • 92% caprylic capric triglyceride

  • 0.5% optiphen

phase B

  • 3% polyglyceryl - 3 oleate

  • 3% olivem 300

  • 0.5% vitamin E

  • 1% water soluble extract I used oat extract

Directions;

  • combine all ingredients in phase A and mix.

  • combine all ingredients in phase B and mix

  • using an overhead stirrer to create a vortex slowly pour phase B into phase A (you can also hand mix, but an overheard stirrer is easiest)

  • once all of phase B is incorporated into phase A you can pour into desired bottle. (I used a pump bottle)

pH adjusting; no pH adjusting is needed since this contains primarily anhydrous ingredients.

Benefits/Purpose of each ingredient

caprylic capric triglyceride - light weight, clear, odorless, non-staining and non-greasy liquid oil with an almost indefinite shelf life and is easily absorbed into skin.

optiphen - preservative.

polyglyceryl - 3 oleate - oil - soluble emulsifier, transforms the oil into a creamy milk in the presence of water that nourishes your skin as it cleanses.

olivem 300 - used as a superfatting agent to create a milky emulsifying effect. offers skin smoothness and moisturizing effects.

vitamin E - a powerful antioxidant that helps keep oils fresh longer. not a preservative.

oat extract - helps restore moisture to skin, soothes skin, and helps reduce irritation.

Substitutions;

substituting ingredients will change the final feel, viscosity, and overall effect of final product. percentages and formulating procedure may need to change with substitutions. these substitution suggestions are just suggestions and have not been tested to work.

  • caprylic capric triglyceride - any oil or emollient ester

  • optiphen - phenonip

  • polyglyceryl - 3 oleate - try another low HLB liquid emulsifier.

  • olivem 300 - you can try other superfatting agents, but this is the only one I had to actually test.

  • vitamin E - you can leave out

  • oat extract - any water soluble extract.
