Homemade Leave - in Hair Conditioner

The main ingredient in this leave - in conditioner is btms 50. I do not know of any substitutes for this ingredient. Btms 50 is the ingredient that is going to detangle soften and moisturize your hair. You definitely need it if you are going to be making this leave - in hair conditioner. Keep in mind it is possible to make this with just distilled water and btms 50, but all the extra ingredients will add even more benefits to the hair. So let's get started.

Formula;

Water Phase

58.5% distilled water

20% aloe vera liquid (substitute w/ distilled water or hydrosol)

4% vegetable glycerin (substitute w/ 1,3 propanedial)

Oil Phase

3% fractionated coconut oil (substitute w/ another liquid oil of choice)

cool down phase

5% bamboo extract (substitute w/ another extract w/ haircare benefits)

2% chamomile extract (substitute w/ another extract w/ haircare benefits)

2% hydrolyzed oat protein (substitute w/ a different hydrolyzed protein)

1.5% optiphen plus (substitute w/ a different broad spectrum water soluble preservative)

Directions;

Begin by weighing out the water phase ingredients in a glass beaker. Then weigh out the oil phase ingredients in a separate glass beaker. Create a double boiler and place both beakers in and cover with aluminum foil. Heat until everything has melted and dissolved. Make sure the panthenol has dissolved in the water completely. Once everything is melted and dissolved quickly pour your water phase into your oil phase and blend with a high sheer mixer like an immersion blender of micro mini mixer. Come back and mix it up periodically until it has returned to room temperature. Once everything has cooled down it is time to add in the cool down ingredients. Add in all your cool down ingredients and mix everything together one last time to make sure it is all well combined. Pour into a bottle with a spray pump and you are finished! :) You use this leave - in conditioner the same way you use any other leave - in conditioner. You can also add some fragrance or essential oil to this if you would like. I added in 3 drops of spearmint essential oil because I'm obsessed with spearmint.
