Formula;
Heated Phase A
46% distilled water - (substitute w/ aloe vera liquid, or hydrosol)
15% carrier oil of choice
5% glycerin (substitute w/ propanedial 1,3 or other humectant)
Phase B
1% siligel
.5% xanthan gum
(there are many different substitutions for these ingredients. You could use just 2% siligel & no xanthan gum, use 1.5% xanthan gum & no siligel. You could also use crothix in place of both of these ingredients. Use crothix at about 2%)
Surfactant Phase
20% gentle foam (substitute w/ cocamidopropyl betaine, foaming soy, foaming apple, decyl glucoside, or another foaming surfactant of choice)
10% coco glucoside (substitute w/ a different foaming surfactant of choice)
(there are many different foaming surfactants and it really just comes down to which ones your prefer. be sure to keep their ph level in mind. some surfactants have a lower ph and some are higher so you may have to balance your products ph depending on what surfactant you use)
Cool Down Phase
1.5% optiphen plus (substitute w/ leucidal sf complete, liquid germall plus or another water soluble broad spectrum preservative)
1% fragrance oil (I use hello sugar fragrance oil, it smells like candy! I love it)
Directions;
Weigh out all ingredients in phase A in a heat safe container. I like to use these beakers HERE. Next create a water bath and heat up phase A. You don't have to heat to a specific temperate just about 100 degrees fahrenheit. We are heating phase A in order to fully dissolve the ingredients in phase B. I weighed the ingredients from phase B in a separate container so I could easily pour them into phase A. So now that phase A is heated pour the ingredients from phase B into phase A. Now mix with an immersion blender and you will notice everything will immediately start thickening up. Once everything is mixed it's time for the surfactant phase. These are the ingredients that will be our cleansing and foaming agents. Weigh your surfactant ingredients and gently mix in. Be sure to NOT use the immersion blender here or you will create way to much foam! If you decided to use the same surfactants I used (or a different surfactant with a high ph) I highly recommend lowering the ph using citric acid at this time. If you use the surfactants I used the ph will naturally be around 9, I personally prefer a body wash around 6-7, but this is entirely up to you. Now you want to let your formulation cool down to room temperate and once it is cooled it is time to add your cool down ingredients. Mix everything together one last time and you are done! Bottle up your body wash and wash away :)
Benefits of each ingredient;

glycerin - helps draw moisture into our skin
siligel - thickens formulation, emulsifies oil and water, & moisturizes the skin
xanthan gum - thickens formulation and adds a more creamy texture
gentle foam - cleansing and foaming agent.
coco glucoside - cleansing and foaming agent. also acts as an emulsifier.
optiphen plus - preserves our product
fragrance oil - makes our product smell good :)
