  • 5% shea butter

  • 34.5% caprylic capric triglyceride

  • 50% sugar

Directions;

  • combine all ingredients in phase A in a heat safe beaker and place in a pan with about an inch of water.

  • place on your stove top on medium heat and let everything melt. You may need to give it a mix here and there

  • pour into desired container. A low profile jar works best as this is to thick to squeeze out of a bottle.

pH adjusting; no pH adjusting is needed because this is anhydrous (contains only oil soluble ingredients)

Benefits/Purpose of each ingredient

caprylic capric triglyceride - light weight, clear, odorless, non-staining and non-greasy liquid oil with an almost indefinite shelf life and is easily absorbed into skin. keeps product from feeling too greasy on skin.

ritamulse SCG - is the thickener and structuring agent for the scrub. keeps everything blended and mixed together.

shea butter - moisturizing and adds a bit of viscosity to the scrub

rose clay - very mild exfoliant. helps absorb excess oils on the skin and acts as a texturizing agent.

vitamin E - antioxidant. helps keep product fresh longer. (not a preservative, but if a little water gets into the product it should be okay due to the high sugar content)

sugar - exfoliant.

Substitutions;

substituting ingredients will change the final feel, viscosity, and overall effect of final product. percentages and formulating procedure may need to change with substitutions. these substitution suggestions are just suggestions and have not been tested to work.

  • caprylic capric triglyceride - any oil or emollient ester. (make sure it is a lighter oil and not heavy and greasy. Jojoba oil & meadowfoam seed oil are good options. for emollient esters, coco caprylate, squalane, c12-14 alky benzoate etc.)

  • ritamulse SCG - emulsifying wax NF, polawax, or another waxy emulsifier. cetyl alcohol, stearic acid or cetearyl alcohol may also work.

  • shea butter - any butter, but may change the hardness of product. I would stick with a softer butter like mango butter.

  • rose clay - replace with any clay you'd like

  • vitamin E - no sub, but you can leave out

  • sugar - jojoba pearls/beads or any other exfoliant you have on hand like bamboo stem powder or avocado powder (I wouldn't recommend salt as it's too abrasive)
