DIY Bath Fizzies
formula;
53% baking soda
29% citric acid
7% kaolin clay
2% fragrance oil / essential oil
recipe;
212 grams baking soda
116 grams citric acid
28 grams kaolin clay
28 grams cocamidopropyl betaine
8 grams polysorbate 80
8 grams fragrance oil / essential oil
Directions;
mix together baking soda, citric acid, and kaolin clay and sift the powders (sifting isn't necessary)
divide the powder equally into two separate bowls
next combine the polysorbate 80 and fragrance/essential oil and mix
equally divide the polysorbate 80/fragrance oil mixture into two separate beakers
add mica powder into each beaker. I colored one pink and one orange. & mix in the mica powder
divide the cocamidopropyl betaine equally between the polysorbate 80/fragrance/mica mixtures and mix them together
pour one polysorbate 80/fragrance/mica/cocamidopropyl betaine mixture into one bowl with the baking soda/citric acid/kaolin clay and the other beaker into the other bowl and mix with gloved hands
if it sticks to your gloves just scrape off using a spoon
it is totally normal for the mixtures to start inflating. this is due to the baking soda and citric acid activating
spread both mixtures onto a baking sheet and flatten out as much as you can
let sit over night. It is totally normal if it starts to inflate it will flatten out
the next day you want to brake everything up into chunks. I used a bread knife to scrap everything up
lastly, add a combination of each color into your mylar bags or another container of choice.
Substitutions;
baking soda - no sub
citric acid - no sub
kaolin clay - I'd imagine any clay will work
cocamidopropyl betaine - another liquid surfactant like AOS 40 or DLS
polysorbate 80 - poly suga mulse D9 or sunflower solubilizer
