Walnut Orange Body Scrub

Updated: May 13, 2022

This scrub has a very light, creamy, gel like texture to it. It melts into your skin with ease while exfoliating and moisturizing leaving your skin soft and supple. If you want to make this scrub for the face, maybe leave out the walnut shell powder, as if can be far too abrasive for the face, but it's great for more problem areas like the feet, elbows, and knees.

Formula;

phase A

phase B

phase C

Directions;

  • combine ingredients in phase A and mix

  • combine ingredients in phase B and mix

  • slowly pour phase B into phase A while mixing with high sheer

  • then add in ingredients in phase C and mix

  • package into a jar

Benefits/Purpose of each ingredient;

  • gelmaker NAT - effective thickener by forming gels that can stabilize up to 35% oil. Gives a smooth, nude skin feel with non-sticky texture

  • sea buckthorn berry oil - emollient and gives product a natural orange color

  • caprylic capric triglyceride - non-greasy and light weight. It comes in the form of an oily liquid and mainly works as an emollient, dispersing agent and solvent.

  • orange oil - gives a lovely citrusy scent to scrub

  • distilled water - diluent

  • glycerin - hydrates and locks in moisture

  • liquid germall plus - preservative

  • jojoba beads - exfoliator

  • walnut shell powder - exfoliator, stronger exfoliator than jojoba pearls

Substitutions;

  • gelmaker Nat - I've never tried anything else quite like this, but I think GelMaker EMU is similar.

  • sea buckthorn berry oil - a different plant oil

  • caprylic capric triglyceride - plant oil or a different emollient ester

  • orange essential oil - a different essential oil or fragrance oil

  • distilled water - aloe vera liquid, hydrosol, essence

  • glycerin - 1,3 propanedial or propylene glycol

  • liquid germall plus - optiphen plus, optiphen, euxyl pe 9010 or a different water soluble broad spectrum preservative.

  • walnut shell powder - jojoba beads

  • jojoba beads - idk any substitutions. sugar and salt are not recommended as they can dissolve in water overtime
