Vanilla Rose Jelly Mask

Updated: May 13, 2022

In honor of Valentines day I am doing a short series of recipes inspired by Valentines Day. I wanted to make a jelly face mask, but I wanted it to give off a Valentines Day vibe. So of course I had to make it pink and incorporate some rose water in it. For some reason vanilla gives me that romantic vibe as well, so I made it smell like vanilla rose using rose water and vanilla water. I also wanted this to be anti aging, no surprise there, so I incorporated some regu-scence. Lastly I wanted it to by slightly exfoliating, but still gentle. So I incorporated some willow bark extract.

Formula;

phase A

phase B

Directions;

  • begin with phase A. Mix xanthan gum and glycerin until combined

  • in separate container combine all other ingredients in any order and mix until dl panthenol is dissolved

  • pour phase B into phase A and mix until you get a uniform jelly consistency

Note; if you want to add color then add the coloring during phase B. I used pink mica powder.

PH adjusting; I added in 5 drops of a 40 / 60 diluted solution of citric acid to lower the ph. I diluted 40% citric acid in 60% distilled water. This brought the ph to 5.5. Please check the ph of your face mask and do your own adjusting. This face masks ph is naturally around 6.59, which isn't the worst ph, so if you aren't able to lower the ph that is okay. Typically you want your products around 4.4 - 5.6 because that is the natural ph of the skin. Also regu - scence is only active in ph's between 3.0 to 8 so keep that in mind if you are using this ingredient in your mask.
