All ingredients in this formula are naturally derived or Ecocert approved. This product is great for all skin types and all genders.
Formula;
phase A
2% bisabolol
phase B
66.75% distilled water
5% glycerin
1.2% euxyl K 903
Directions;
combine both ingredients in phase A and mix
combine all ingredients together in phase B adding the distilled water and aloe vera powder first and mixing together making sure the aloe vera powder has dissolved before adding the rest of the ingredients.
pour phase B into phase A and mix with an immersion blender (I'm not sure how long to mix as normally with emulsions you mix until it's thickened, but since this is a cold process emulsion I just mixed for about a minute then didn't mix it again)
check and adjust the ph if needed (mine was 4.48 so no ph adjusting was needed)
pour into desired bottle and you are finished
How to use;
After shaving and when skin is dry, mist skin with aftershave and rub into skin. If you don't want to use as a mist put product into a bottle with a screw cap and pour onto a cotton round and pat into skin or pour product into skin and pat onto skin. It is a very thin liquid so pouring into your hand will be much harder.
Benefits/Purpose of each ingredient
CreamMaker® ANIO - "PEG-free anionic o/w emulsifier used as a liquid oil-in-water emulsifier for cold, hot/cold and hot emulsification. Completely based on vegetable raw materials. Especially recommended for sensitive skin and shows very good emulsifying ability with both polar and non-polar oils. Stabilizes emulsions with low and high oil content. HLB value approximately 13." - according to makingcosmetics.com
bisabolol - is a naturally occurring active ingredient that accelerates the healing process of skin and protects it from the effects of daily stress. Known to have anti-irritant and anti-inflammatory properties, a-bisabolol has been shown to reduce UV-induced erythema in-vivo. It has also been demonstrated in studies to enhance the dermal penetration of other ingredients, making it a truly versatile active ingredient for skin care products, especially those containing other active ingredients and cosmeceuticals. It also has natural anti-bacterial as well as anti-mycotic properties. - according to lotioncrafter.com
glycerin - humectant that hydrates the skin
aloe vera powder - soothing, hydrating, and calming to the skin. can even help with acne
cucumber extract - can help provide a moisturizing, soothing feel on the skin.
witch hazel hydrosol - "is astringent and soothing. It has a very soft herbaceous fragrance, making it a perfect choice for your men's skin care lines, especially shaving products. Witch Hazel is the most astringent of all hydrosols, making it the best choice for acne treatments as well as mature skin. The astringent nature also makes it one of the best choices for toning the skin. Both oily and mature skin benefit from it's tightening and balancing properties Witch Hazel hydrosol is also one of the hydrosols with the lowest pH which makes it a suitable water replacement, or base, for any toner geared toward skin refinement" - according to ingredientstodiefor.com
euxyl K 903 - ecocert approved preservative
Substitutions;
substituting ingredients will change the final feel, viscosity, and overall effect of final product. percentages and formulating procedure may need to change with substitutions.
bisabolol - no sub.
CreamMaker® ANIO - CreamMaker® FLUID might work. It doesn't specify if it makes low viscosity products or not, but since it's an instant cold emulsifier and comes in liquid form I'd imagine it makes low viscosity emulsions. GelMaker® NAT would probably work, but haven't tried it. I'm sure there are other methods you could use, like using a solubilizer to solubilize the bisabolol, but this would just create a whole different formulating process so it doesn't serve as a good sub. CreamMaker® FLUID and GelMaker® NAT would be the most similar to CreamMaker® ANIO
glycerin - propanedial, propylene glycol or other humectant
aloe vera powder 200x - aloe vera 100x, aloe vera extract, or you could use aloe vera liquid instead of distilled water.
cucumber extract - chamomile extract or cucumber hydrosol (would need to use a higher percentage and use in place of some of the distilled water)
witch hazel hydrosol - witch hazel extract
euxyl k 903 - any other water soluble preservative like optiphen plus, euxyl PE 9010, geogard ECT, tristate eco, etc. Don't use liquid germall plus as it isn't approved for aerosol products (although I'm not sure if this matters for misting products, but just to be safe, I don't recommend using it)
