Rose Face Mist w/ My Favorite Ingredients

I didn't have a video ready in time for Sunday, so I had to make something last minute. I wanted to make something that didn't have to sit overnight. That way I can film the entire video in one day. So I decided to make a Rose Face Mist, but I wanted to include some ingredients I've been obsessed with! Ginseng Extract and Saccharomyces Ferment. These are two ingredients commonly found in Korean skincare, so I've been adding them to a lot of products I've been making lately. Read more about Saccharomyces Ferment and Ginseng Extract below. You can modify the formula by using any two water soluble extracts instead of the Ginseng and Saccharomyces Ferment. Or you can leave them out and just use distilled water. You also don't need the hyaluronic acid. You can leave that out. DL panthenol would be a great ingredient to use in place of it. If you want to see a simpler, beginner friendly Rose Face Mist, let me know. I might of got carried away with this one since all of these ingredients might not be easy for everyone to source.

Formula

phase A

  • 0.05% ULMW hyaluronic acid

  • 5% Propanediol 1,3

  • 1.2% Euxyl K 903

phase B

  • 49.7% Distilled Water

  • 40% Rose Hydrosol

  • 0.05% Aloe Vera Powder 200x

  • 2% Ginseng Extract

  • 2% Saccharomyces Ferment

500 gram recipe

phase A

  • 0.25 grams ULMW hyaluronic acid

  • 25 grams Propanediol 1,3

  • 6 grams Euxyl K 903

phase B

  • 248.5 grams Distilled Water

  • 200 grams Rose Hydrosol

  • 0.25 grams Aloe Vera Powder 200x

  • 10 grams Ginseng Extract

  • 10 grams Saccharomyces Ferment

Directions;

  • Combine all ingredients in phase A and mix. Set to the side.

  • In another beaker combine all ingredients in phase B and mix until aloe vera dissolves.

  • Pour phase A into phase B and mix.

  • If you want to color it I added in one drop of Pretty Pink water soluble dye from ElementsBathandBody.com

  • Check and adjust pH between 4.5 - 5.5

  • I ended up adding in 0.08% Sodium Phytate to raise the pH.

Benefits/Purpose of each ingredient

Propanediol - humectant that hydrates skin

ULMW hyaluronic acid - plumps skin, hydrates skin, reduces fine lines & wrinkles, and is naturally found in skin.

Euxyl K 903 - ecocert preservative

Rose Hydrosol - great for dry and mature skin types, gives your product a lovely rose scent and is a great ingredient for soothing the skin.

Aloe Vera Powder 200x - soothing, hydrating, and calming to the skin. can even help with acne

Ginseng Extract - can help reduce fine lines and make the skin firmer.

Saccharomyces Ferment - a potent anti-aging ingredient, increase cell respiration, increase cell metabolism. increasing the production of structural proteins such as collagen and elastin.

Substitutions;

substituting ingredients will change the final feel, viscosity, and overall effect of final product. percentages and formulating procedure may need to change with substitutions. these substitution suggestions are just suggestions and have not been tested to work.

Propanediol - glycerin, propylene glycolic, or other liquid humectant, but not all will work. Euxyl K 903 has issues completely solubilizing in water, so I mixed the Euxyl k 903 with propanedial to help solubilize it into the water. In my experience, glycerin hasn't worked, so you will have to test it or you can use a solubilizer to help mix the Euxyl K 903.(polysorbate 20, polysorbate 80, polysuga mulse D9 are all possible solubilizer you could use.) Check out my blog all about Euxyl k 903 and other ecocert preservatives

ULMW hyaluronic acid - any hyaluronic acid should work, but keep in mind that the higher the weight of HA the more it will thicken the product. You could try using a high molecular weight HA instead of carbomer too. You could also just leave this out.

Rose Hydrosol - any floral hydrosol of choice

Aloe Vera Powder 200x - leave out or use DL panthenol or other water soluble ingredient in place of it.

Euxyl K 903 - any water soluble preservative; e.g., liquid germall plus, euxyl PE 9010, optiphen plus, geogard ECT, Tristate Eco, etc. all of these besides liquid germall plus has issues completely solubilizing into watery solutions. So make sure you mix them with propanedial or a solubilizer like polysorbate 20, polysorbate 80, or polysuga mulse D9 to mix them in evenly.

Saccharomyces Ferment - leave out or use a water soluble extract of choice or other water soluble fermented ingredient. Check out other fermented ingredients here

Ginseng Extract - any other plant extract you would like or leave out.
