How to Make Light Weight Moisturizer for Summer

Formula;

water phase

oil phase

penstia powder phase

cool down phase

Directions;

  • measure and combine all ingredients in the water phase

  • in a separate beaker, measure and combine all the ingredients in the oil phase

  • weigh your water phase (including the beaker) and write down how much it weighs

  • cover both phases with aluminum foil and heat using a water bath

  • once both phases have reached 155 degrees fahrenheit for 20 minutes remove the water phase from the water bath and weigh it

  • replace any water that has evaporated (typically it's only less than a gram)

  • now remove the oil phase from the water bath and immediately pour the water phase into the oil phase, not the other way around!

  • mix immediately with an immersion blender

  • before it completely cools and solidifies add in the penstia powder and mix it in with your immersion blender

  • as it cools, come back periodically and give it a mix

  • once the formulation has returned to room temperature add the cool down ingredients

  • mix the formula by hand one last time to make sure all ingredients are incorporated evenly and then package in a jar

Benefits of each ingredient;

  • rose water - great for dry and mature skin types, gives your product a lovely rose scent and is a great ingredient for soothing the skin.

  • aloe vera liquid - soothing, hydrating, and calming to the skin. can even help with acne

  • chamomile extract - has anti-inflammatory properties and helps soothe skin from irritation

  • 1,3 propanedial - moisturizes the skin and helps alleviate the greasiness some may find that glycerin causes

  • dl panthenol - has deep penetrating characteristics which provide excellent humectant benefits for restoring and maintaining natural skin moisture.

  • allantoin - has moisturizing, soothing, anti-irritating properties and stimulates healthy, normal tissue formation

  • olive squalane - non-greasy oil soluble emollient that is capable of mixing with sebum present on the skin. This may help reduce the viscosity of sebum to minimize its greasy feel. this is a light weight clear oil with no odor.

  • ritamulse scg - all in one emulsifier. used to blend oil and water together and also thicken product to create a lotion consistency. is an ecocert emulsifier approved for organic formulations.

  • penstia powder - a novel polymer that imparts a silky, creamy feel to the finished product. The particles of penstia powder are porous spheres that allow for high oil loading, which is useful for active entrapment, stabilization and sebum absorption. These particles ‘roll’ rather than ‘drag’, adding exceptional slip to any formulation.

  • leucidal sf complete - preserve's product

  • bamboo extract - Has good moisturizing properties. The bamboo stems are high in silica deposits which give strength to hair and skin.

  • rosemary extract - Rich in calcium, magnesium, iron, manganese, phosphorus, potassium, zinc, and vitamin B1, vitamin B3 and vitamin C. Has purifying and anti-irritant properties

  • cucumber extract - soothes skin, moisturizing, has vitamin C, vitamin K, and potassium, vitamin A, vitamin B6, thiamin, folate, pantothenic acid, magnesium, phosphorus, copper, and manganese.

  • wheat protein - unique hydrating complex offering a combination of moisture-balancing and film-forming properties that work synergistically to give hair better body and control, increased shine and highlights. Its anti-irritant and protective properties give skin a smoother, softer feel. Its film forming benefits help maintain an optimum moisture balance in the skin and hair
