We already made a 5% fruit acid face toner, so now it's time to make it into a facial serum. The gelling ingredient I am going to be using is hyaluronic acid that is 1-1.5 million daltons. You can substitute this out for any other gelling ingredient or you can use a hyaluronic acid with a lower amount of daltons, but keep in mind, if you use a hyaluronic acid with a lower daltons count the serum won't be as thick. Of course this is okay because it will still have great benefits for the skin, just won't be as thick.

Here is the formula;
66% distilled water (can substitute with a hydrosol or aloe vera liquid)
20% apple fruit essence (can substitute with distilled water, hydrosol, or aloe vera liquid)
4% 1,3 propanedial (can substitute with vegetable glycerin)
4% Leucidal sf complete (can substitute with another broad spectrum water soluble preservative)
1% hyaluronic acid 1-1.5 million daltons (can substitute with sepimax zen or siligel)
I am only going to be making .5 ounces worth of product.
Directions;
I used a digital scale that weighs to 0.01 grams and used a 50 ml glass beaker to weigh everything out in. I started by adding in 9.9 grams of distilled water, then added .6 grams of 1,3 propanedial, 3 grams of apple fruit essence, .75 grams of fruit acid complex (fruit mix), & lastly .6 grams of leucidal sf complete. I gave everything a good mix before I added in my last ingredient. The last ingredient is the gelling ingredient I am using hyaluronic acid that is 1-1.5 million daltons. This hyaluronic acid will give the serum a really nice gelled texture and add great moisturizing properties to the skin. You could use sepimax zen or siligel instead. I added in .15 grams of the hyaluronic acid. Then you want to let the hyaluronic acid sit for at least 3 hours. Then when you come back after 3 hours give everything a really nice mix and bam! Everything is gelled! It the past (and in the video that goes along with this post) I always said to mix the hyaluronic acid in the formula as much as possible before letting it sit, I found that this isn't really necessary. This made my life easier. lol So the last thing you want to do is package up your serum and add on a label. Now you can use your serum!!! :)
If you aren't familiar with serums or Alpha hydroxy acids I recommend watching my video over serums and my other video over alpha hydroxy acids (or you can read the posts here on patreon) but when using a serum you want to begin by washing your face, then using a toner (if you normally use one in your skin routine) then while your face is still damp take 2-3 drops of the serum and massage it into the skin, including your neck. Let it sit until it dries, then follow with your usual moisturizer. Also when using an alpha hydroxy acid you want to make sure you are always protecting your skin from the sun with a sun screen as alpha hydroxy acids make your skin very sensitive to the sun for up to 7 days after use.
Here is the exact recipe I used.
Distilled water - 9.9 grams
1,3 propanedial - .6 grams
Apple Fruit Essence - 3 grams
Fruit Acid Complex (fruit mix) - .75 grams
Leucidal SF Complete - .6 grams
Hyaluronic Acid 1-1.5 million daltons - .15 grams
