Formula;
57.5% distilled water
5% glycerin
0.5% liquid germall plus
20% AOS 40
2% crothix
Directions;
combine all ingredients making sure to add in the crothix last. After adding in the crothix mix well until the crothix is well combined. If you have issues incorporating the crothix, let it sit overnight and mix again the next day.
Natural PH of product - around 6.2 added 4 drops of a 50% citric acid solution diluted in 50% distilled water to get ph to 5.4
If you want to add a fragrance use this formula.
phase A
52.5% distilled water
5% glycerin
0.5% liquid germall plus
20% AOS 40
2% crothix
phase B
4% tego solve 61 or poly suga mulse D9
1% fragrance oil or essential oil
Directions;
combine all ingredients in phase A, making sure to add in the crothix last.
After adding in the crothix mix well until the crothix is well combined. If you have issues incorporating the crothix, let it sit overnight and mix again the next day.
combine both ingredients in phase B and mix well.
pour phase B into phase A and mix
formula will be clear the next day
Benefits/Purpose of each ingredient
glycerin - humectant that hydrates the skin
liquid germall plus - preservative
AOS 40 - anionic surfactant. This is a cleansing surfactant that helps strip dirt and oil from skin. Sulfate free and gentle but still creates a great lather
cocamidopropyl betaine - amphoteric surfactant that helps boost lather and foam.
crothix - helps thicken and gel body wash
tego solve 61 - oil and water don't mix so you need a solubilizer to mix the fragrance oil or essential oil into the formula. Tego solve 61 is a solubilizer that will make a clear formula. Other solubilizers like polysorbate 20 causes formulations to look foggy.
Substitutions;
substituting ingredients will change the final feel, viscosity, and overall effect of final product. percentages and formulating procedure may need to change with substitutions.
glycerin - propanedial, propylene glycol or other humectant
liquid germall plus - any other water soluble preservative like optiphen plus or euxyl PE 9010
AOS 40 - a different anionic surfactant of choice. DLS, foaming apple, foaming soy, ammonium lauryl sulfate, plantapon LGC sorb, plantapon 611L UP
cocamidopropyl betaine - lauramidopropyl betaine, disodium cocoamphodiacetate
crothix - no sub.
tego solve 61 - poly suga mulse D9, polysorbate 20 or any other solubilizer, but formula may not be clear with polysorbate 20. Came out clear with poly suga mulde D9 for me.
