Ceramide and Collagen Daily Moisturizer - Vegan

All ingredients in this formula are naturally derived or Ecocert approved except for the preservative, liquid germall plus.

Formula;

phase A

• 57.3% distilled water

• 5% glycerin

• 5% ceramide complex

phase B

• 6% ritamulse SCG

• 3% cetyl alcohol

• 10% caprylic capric triglyceride

• 5% rosehip seed oil

phase C

• 2% ginseng extract

• 2% vegetable collagen

• 2% marshmallow extract

• 2% dl panthenol

• 0.5% liquid germall plus

• 0.2% vitamin E

Directions;

• combine all ingredients in phase A and mix

• in a separate container combine all ingredients in phase B

• take note of how much phase A weights (some water will evaporate when heated and may need to be replaced)

• cover both beakers with some foil and place both phase A and B into a water bath and heat until everything melts in phase B.

• while A/B heat, take another beaker and weight out all the ingredients in phase C except for the vitamin E.

• mix until the dl panthenol dissolves.

• set aside until needed

• once both phases A & B are around the same temperature pour phase A into phase B.

• immediately mix with a high sheer mixer, like an immersion blender.

• let cool to 100°f/40°c then you can add in phase C including the vitamin E.

• mix until combine.

• check ph and adjust to around 4.5 - 5.5.

• let return to room temperature and cover and let sit over night

• pour into desired container the next day.

ph sensitive ingredients;

natural ph came out to be 4.95 which is perfect. Make sure you check the ph of yours as it may be different even if you use the same ingredients.

Benefits/Purpose of each ingredient

glycerin - humectant that hydrates the skin

ceramide complex - restores the protective barrier function of the skin and offers enhanced delivery and exchange of skin lipids. Ceramide Complex is especially suitable for dry skin, aging skin and sensitive skin.

ritamulse SCG - all in one emulsifier. used to blend oil and water together and also thicken product to create a lotion consistency. is an ecocert emulsifier approved for organic formulations.

cetyl alcohol - emulsion stabilizer, thickener, and emollient

rosehip seed oil - Trans-retinoic acid is a natural form of vitamin A naturally found in rosehip seed oil. vitamin -A has been found to help treat acne along with signs of aging. said to help reduce irritation

caprylic capric triglyceride - non-greasy and light weight. It comes in the form of an oily liquid and mainly works as an emollient, dispersing agent and solvent. is an emollient ester and similar to plant oils since it has an oily texture, but is much more light weight and far less greasy. It has a dry, silky oil, feel that is almost powdery because it is still present on the skin but not greasy.

ginseng extract - can help reduce fine lines and make the skin firmer.

collagen - can help improve skin elasticity, reduce wrinkles, increase blood flow to skin, and is what helps keep our skin plump and youthful

marshmallow extract - provides hydration and helps improve the skins ability to retain moisturize

dl panthenol - aka vitamin B5. provides excellent humectant benefits for restoring and maintaining natural skin moisture

liquid germall plus - preservative

vitamin E - antioxidant

Substitutions;

substituting ingredients will change the final feel, viscosity, and overall effect of final product. percentages and formulating procedure may need to change with substitutions.

• glycerin - propanedial, propylene glycol or other humectant

• ceramide complex - no sub unless you use a different ceramide ingredient like FSS ceramide 3, FSS ceramide liposome, FSS Vegetable Ceramides BG, FSS Vegetable Ceramides G, FSS ceramide 1, etc.

• ritamulse SCG - emulsifying wax NF, montanov 68 MB, Olivem 1000, polawax or any other waxy emulsifier

• cetyl alcohol - cetearyl alcohol, stearic acid, behenyl alcohol, or another fatty alcohol or fatty acid.

• rosehip seed oil - any other liquid plant oil or liquid emollient ester

• caprylic capric triglyceride- any other emollient ester or liquid plant oil of choice

• ginseng extract - any other plant extract you would like

• marshmallow extract - any other plant extract you would like

• dl panthenol - no sub, but you can leave out

• liquid germall plus - any other water soluble preservative like euxyl k 903, optiphen plus, euxyl PE 9010, geogard ECT, tristate eco, etc.

• vitamin E - no sub, but you can leave out or use some green tea extract for added antioxidants.
