Brightening Strawberry Jelly Face Mask

Updated: May 13, 2022

You've all been loving the jelly face masks. I've been getting a lot of requests for an exfoliating version, so here it is. Not only will this mask help exfoliate the skin but it will also help brighten and even your complexion.

Formula;

phase A

phase B

Directions;

  • mix together the glycerin and euxyl pe 9010

  • sprinkle the xanthan gum soft on top and mix until hydrated in the glycerin and euxyl pe 9010

  • then add in the rest of the ingredients and mix with an immersion blender or mini mixer.

PH adjusting; natural ph fell at 4.10

Benefits/Purpose of each ingredient

  • glycerin - humectant that draws moisture to the skin

  • euxyl pe 9010 - preservative

  • xanthan gum soft - gelling ingredients

  • strawberry essence water - add a strawberry scent

  • alpaflor gigawhite - ecocert approved skin lightener. can brighten and even skin tone as well as reduce the color intensity of age spots.

  • licorice root extract - shows promise as a soothing ingredient for the relief of eczema. Studies have shown it may be of benefit in skin lightening products as well

  • fruit acid complex - is a concentrated blend of five botanical extracts: bilberry, sugar cane, sugar maple, orange, and lemon. These extracts contain several naturally occurring alpha hydroxy acids. Alpha hydroxy acids have been shown to promote smoother, younger looking skin by increasing the rate of cell renewal.

Substitutions;

(may need to change percentages of the substitutions. substituting ingredients will change the final feel, viscosity and over all end product)

  • glycerin - propylene glycol or 1,3 propanedial

  • euxyl pe 9010 - liquid germall plus, optiphen plus, etc. any water soluble broad spectrum preservative that works in this formula

  • xanthan gum soft - a different gelling ingredient like sepimax zen

  • strawberry essence water - a different hydrosol, essence or floral water

  • alpaflor gigawhite - alpha-arbutin (be sure to dissolve it in water first)

  • licorice root extract - leave out or use different extract

  • fruit acid complex - glycolic or lactic acid but you will need to raise ph to 3.5 - 4
