7% Niacinamide Toner (beginner friendly)

Formula;

phase A

• 5% 1,3 propanedial

• 1% euxyl PE 9010

phase B

• 30% witch hazel hydrosol

• 57% distilled water

• 7% niacinamide

Directions;

• combine both ingredients in phase A and mix until combine

• add in all ingredients in phase B into phase A and mix until niacinamide is dissolved.

• check and adjust pH to around 6 and bottle up your toner

pH adjusting; niacinamide needs to be in a pH around 6. I wouldn't go any lower than 5.5 and no higher than 6.5

Benefits/Purpose of each ingredient

1,3 propanedial - humectant that hydrates the skin. Is being mixed with the euxyl PE 9010 first to help suspend the euxyl PE 9010 in the formula. Euxyl PE 9010 has issues solubilizing in water. So mixing it with propanedial first helps suspend it

euxyl PE 9010 - preservative

witch hazel hydrosol - different from drug store witch hazel. This hydrosol is an astrigent, soothing, tightens skin, & is overall great for all skin types. Not drying like drug store witch hazel

niacinamide - has the ability to visibly improve the appearance of enlarged pores, uneven skin tone, fine lines, dullness, and helps improve the overall appearance of the skin

Substitutions;

substituting ingredients will change the final feel, viscosity, and overall effect of final product. percentages and formulating procedure may need to change with substitutions. these substitution suggestions are just suggestions and have not been tested to work.

• 1,3 propanedial - glycerin or propylene glycol

• euxyl PE 9010 - any water soluble preservative that is active in a pH of 6. Liquid germall plus would be the easiest to use.

• witch hazel hydrosol - about 2-10% witch hazel extract (replace the remaining percentage with water)
